Oil filter relocation position?

I am about to do an oil and filter change and I have been given a filter relocation kit. I was just wondering if the positioning of the relocated filter is critical or can I put it wherever I want?

Does it need to be low down or can it be high up? say near the upper suspension mount?

Any views appreciated.

I would have thought keep the pipework as short as possible would be of benefit but cant think of whether high or low would be beneficial apart from ease of changing/draining.

I know of people that mount oil coolers sideways on so that draining is easier.

Mine is located on the upper suspension tower and is mounted sideways.
Just make sure you use a filter with a non return valve.
Has yours got a cooler aswell or just the relocation kit?

Ask Jay (BlackskyGTR) about these - he's had first hand experience of the problems caused if you get it wrong.

It does't matter if its positioned high up as the oil's pumped round. I agree with Duncan about keeping the pipes short but don't worry if its not possible National Hot Rods have their oil cooler and filter in the back of the car

Just the relocation kit. picking the oil and filter up tonight so I can do it over the weekend ready for wednesday. :)

Thats where I was thinking of mounting it, and sideways to make it less messy when I change the filter. :D

Thanks for the help guys

I would have thought lower the better so the pump doesn`t have to work as hard. Gravity will assist the oil flow.

I had the same school of thought boxy until my mate pointed out that its still got to be pumped uphill after passing through the filter.

As Ben has already said, please speak to Jay or Gary @ APtuning before you fit this.
