So what road legal tyres do you chaps like to use?

Even though Im into my drifty stuff grip is just as important as your more normal track work. 99% of the time I use part worns so get hold of all different types of tyre, my favourites so far are Bridgestone RE040, Goodyear F1 and Michelin PS2. Toyo T1S's are nice and grippy but give an odd wobbly feel to the car. :? Just got hold of some RE070s which look like they will be pretty grippy.

Any recommendations?

T1-s seem to have soft side walls which may answer your wobbly feel. I have used Bridgestone S-01's on the GTR with good results, great grip in wet and dry, could be a little more progressive when they break away, but also perhaps I could learn to drive too :)

Will be getting my brave trousers on at changeover and getting some Toyo R888's/ Advan AO48's for the car. Better get a sump extension too.

the proxe S is rather soft in the walls, but the R version is quite a lot stiffer. definitely great for a track day tyre and great grip in the wet too.
theyre only 50 quid each in my size (215/40/16).

so in summary, the R is much better than the S when pushed hard on a track and theyre fairly cheap. plus theyre ZR rated :)

i dare say there are other tyres around which are better, but for price/performance you would have a challenge to find a better tyre.

ps: was your signature pic taken at JAE this year? do i win a prize for spotting it? :)

Speaking of which, if any of you lads have any 17" tyres youve just changed, you know where to chuck them.;)

My favourite tyres by far - Bridgestone RE01's - just managed to source another set for my little car.
