K&N or RamAir

We currently run a K&N cone filter on our car but have an option to switch to a RamAir foam cone filter. Does anyone have experience of running these foam filters on a turbo charged car, are they any good. Whats peoples opinions.

Not turbo charged but I had one on the clio and it made it louder... thats about it. Only ever arse dynoed so not the best review in the world, but it certainly did not change how the car revved or pulled to any degree, just more noise,

stick with k&n, thats what i use,

I haven't got a clue personally however I do recall reading a feature on a similar subject many moons ago, it would have been in one of the old car modifying mags (I think it was REDLINE before it ceased trading?)

It might be worth PM'ing 'Stav' over on Driftworks as he would have been one of the REDLINE staff at the time and to be fair to the guy he does seem to be very knowledgeable on technical theory compared to real world test results and might be able to shed some more light on the subject.

I would have thought that an NA engine would benefit more than a supercharged or turbo charged engine, but that would be pure guesswork mate (as clearly I didn't pay too much attention whilst reading the feature....doh!).

yes I am mate

I'm not a fan of the foam filters as even though they have the mesh inside them they still deform under high boost.
when I was at gordons we were mapping a Nissan pulsar and it had a foam filter on it and it and you see it trying to suck it in, we changed it for a K&N filter and it made more BHP and more torque much earlier in the rev range.

Did you stick with the K&N filter in the end?
