FWD wheel/tyre setup?

Hey guys, out of interest does anybody know what an ideal wheel and tyre width would be for driving a Gen 6 Toyota Celica GT (NA) on track?
I'm used to driving and setting up RWD cars and haven't really got a clue with regards to low power FWD cars wheel and tyre setup
I presume the common RWD practice of staggered fitment (wide rear and narrower front) is completely wrong for a FWD, therefore would it be better to fit the same width wheels and tyres on both front and rear (ie. 16"/17" x 8J with 205' wide tyres)?

I took some advice on this, rather than just presuming I knew what I was talking about

Dave Bailey (DaveB on gt4oc) built and owns one of the best Gen 6 Celica's I know of and I hope to hear back from him soon. Another guy worth asking is Andycaca but you may need to PM him
I have always like the Gen 6's. Will be interested to see how this develops

By the way, a Fensport customer car that's run in sprints runs on 17 x 7's

Thanks very much mate I really appreciate you digging around and finding that out
I'm looking at this Gen 6 thing from my mate Jamie's point of view, over the years his Radical's and Porkers have spent more time in the workshop being fixed than actually being driven on track and the costs were reportedly ludicrous, hence why he's just gone out and bought a cheapo pre-built Megane track car for the Castle Combe GT/Coupe' jobbie??
Apparently this Megane is running 220'odd bhp and weighs around 1300kg so not exactly a lightweight or a powerhouse but he says he's had huge amounts of fun in it already, and that's just during a few wet run outs
and with it costing 'all in' less than a Radical engine rebuild, he's not too fussed if he stacks it into the Armco, as parts are cheap enough on ebay
Now this has really got me thinking, I see some real logic in this approach as there's nothing more depressing than having invested shit loads of money in your car only to have it up on stands or in the workshop for months/years on end
Mates of mine run a scrappy in Hereford and they have several Gen 5 and Gen 6 Celica's in the yard so it kind of makes sense for me to investigate Celica's a bit more.
Granted it's a complete 'U' turn from the Global (circa

Applying the same mentality you describe I lapped the old Snetterton 3 seconds per lap faster in a 280bhp shed M3 than my 470bhp GTR. I'll add that part of my problem was that I wasn't good enough to get the best out of the GTR, but the potential bills scared the shite out of me too. I had love taps in both the M3 and GTR and I bet you can guess which one I got more upset about

You could probably draw parallels there with joyriders in 90 bhp Astra's out running and evading M3 Police interceptors, as the joyriders have no qualms about driving their stolen steeds down a flight of steps...

you will want to run approx 2 degrees negative camber on the front, maybe up to 3 degrees if tyre wear isnt an issue for you. also consider adding more castor to the front so you get increased dynamic camber when turning in.
i have BC coilovers so rotated the topmounts to increase static castor.
edit: dave talks sense on the tyre size. theyre common and wide so you have plenty of compound choice. for extended track stints the kumho v70 is current favourite.
