broken gear box advice - mini cooper 2002

So, I have a 2002 mini cooper, covered 100,000 miles. Full leather, all the options etc, value must be about 2250.

So question, would seem that the synchro has gone in 2nd, originally thought it was a problem with a recently fitted clutch but the synchro is the diagnosis. What is the best option, replace box, fix box or bin car seeing as it's value is so low. Also needs a new steering rack. Has this car become beyond economical repair

Fix or sell cheap as broken?. Would 750 be a realistic price for a car that is tidy inside and out just broken

Am I missing something here?
The car is supposed to be worth 2250 if 'fixed'
A reconditioned gearbox is 350
A reconditioned steering rack is 140
So for 500 worth of bits and some labour you can have a fixed Cooper or sell it for 750 as is?
