Has anybody had any experience with these lap timers

they look pretty basic but as long as they work it'd be a better option than a very dis-interested 'long haired general' standing trackside with a stop watch in hand!

BikeTek Laptimer with wireless I.R. transmitter
A simple and reliable lap-timing unit for all race and practice purposes
Compact and lightweight design, the LCD-display receiver is easily mounted to road and off-road motorcycles, karts, cars and cycles
Pitwall transmitter unit, powered by two AA batteries (not included)
15 metre range (transmitterreceiver)
Memory capacity of 64 laps / 99 minutes
65x40x11mm receiver unit with wired IR-eye
Viewable data; individual lap timings : slowest lap : fastest lap : total time : average lap time
40x20mm LCD display
940nm frequency
The receive should be mounted to the vehicle in an appropriate position which does not interfere with vehicle functioning
(self-adhesive velcro mount included). When the receiver (ftted to the vehicle) passes by the I.R transmitter (left in a suitable location such as pitwall)
the lap number is displayed and time is recorded, building up data of lap splits. If multiple Biketek laptimers are in use in the same session, just one transmitter should be used
(ensure no more than one transmitter is in use). It is the user
