No Boost :(

Hi Guys,

My 200 isn't well :(

Was taking the missus to work Saturday night, pulled on to the dual carriageway and got up to speed, wasn't giving it too much of the heavy foot (0.7 bar) & everything felt fine.
Then got a roundabout, as I pulled off it there was a squeal sound from the turbo...then no boost :(

I pulled over and checked the hoses etc. they are all on fine.
The turbo sounds like its spinning as I got a spinny whining sound as I limped it home. The boost gauge goes to zero then nothing?!

Turbo is a t28r which has been on for about a year or so & had only done 60k when it was fitted.

Does it sound like my turbo is f*cked or could it be something else? Actuator??

Cheers
Barry

No smoke at all that you have seen?
Did you check the hoses were on properly, not split and not ballooning under throttle? (May be impossible to check that last one without a helper and/or dyno)

Anything 200 related should be pointed at Dr Hayward at APT :D

has the boost pipe come off the back of the boost gauge?
we had that problem once and it turned out to be the above.

Cheers guys!

It was late Saturday night so dark & was checking on my own, well missus was with me but was as useful as a condom vending machine in the Vatican!

I'll have another check on the hoses tonight when I get home

My mobile has died so I hoped Gary would see it on here :) (Work are tracking personal calls on the work phones...but not the internet!)

Nope, my boost controller was reading the same as the gauge.

Sooo today I found some time too look at the hoses etc. made sure everything was tight, no leaks etc.

Gave it a couple of revs, hits 0.6 bar, bingo! All sorted

Take it about 100 yards down the road....no boost :(

When I got home & turned it off I could hear the turbo slowing down, really quite loud.

Did you check the actuator, I had similar when one of the connection pins (or whatever they're called?) on the passenger side turbo on my old VG, had snapped and fallen out? I know that some boost pipework was also replaced by the garage that repaired it because it had deteriated but they told me that the boost issue was the snapped pin
