With an option to get performance cars in both body types.... is there a massive difference in performance/ handling?
Anyone owned both types and used on track?

Impreza
legacy
volvo 850 T5
Mitsubishi legnum/galant
skyline/stagea R33?
M3
M5

What is your preference though Jimbo ? Is it to have the convenience of an estate ?

One would presume that a "special" estate like an RS4 or 6 might be as dynamic as a saloon.
The only issue is that most fast estates weigh more and thus have compromised dynamics to some extent.
I know from the days with the T5 estate that many many owners rated them round tracks and the'Ring, but to answer your question, I have nt had both nor had them on a track.

I wouldnt say i had a preference? Some cars look nice as estates?
I am looking at getting an impreza and i like both but will probably steer towards a saloon.

Just thought about performance buses as alternatives?

Its more discussed hard top over soft top usually.

Just interested if estates more more stiffer with moderate weight increase and practicality?

I should of thought about RS4 and avant... not like i have an audi deerr lol

With regards to the scooby thing, Personally i dont think there is anything between them? Mine is a wagon and Harry`s is a saloon. Ive driven both on track on the same day. I think the difference is how far you want to go with the mods? Harry`s is more road refinded than mine because thats what he needs. The only real negative i can think of with a wagon other than personal taiste is if you do strip it out it can get bloody "boomy" inside.
I like estates for the extra Q car appeal. I guess the old 850 touring cars have a lot to answer for.:)

Agreed... but not much tuning possibilities does look sexy in estate form

There should still be a decent amount of tuning to be had since it's the same power plant as the GTO's - Granted, doubt it would be cheap.

I remember Beanpotters Impreza Wagon being remarkably quick. I think I'd be more interested in a Wagon as its more practical and the ability to be modded similarly to the saloon. Plus Impreza Saloons are driven by numpties now, the Wagons arent (bar Russ!! ;) ).

Isnt the Skyline a 'coupe' rather than a saloon and I dont think you can get R33 versions, arent they R34s ? Or if there is one of the same age it doesnt look like an R33 from the front.

Its a shame we dont get the Evo estates as they look ace !!
