Any sprinters out there tried a mix of soft front and medium rear tyres on a front wheel drive car.
I'm going to get a pair of A048's to replace some 2 worn hankook RS2s. i'm very tempted to get soft compound. Trouble is i still have some life in the other two rs2's and i would like to get finish those off before getting another pair of A048's
just wondered how you found it on a sprint? imagine it might be a bit interesting, given the difference in warming up time.

Hi Jason, I run softer compound on the front, to be honest its not ideal in my application. Have you had the car corner weighted?
Get yourself a pyrometer and measure the tyre temps across the width of the tread, this will give you an idea of operating temperatures and what sort of compound would best suit the setup.
There must be some data available from some Teg racers on other forums?

I'm checking the integra forums as well. i haven't got corner weights to work with.
i'm wanted the softs to bring the times down, but with that combo i think there will be a very big gap in front and rear grip, expecially as the rears will barely warm up. So i could get all the benefit of the traction and braking, but get a bit lairy in the corners. probably still faster if i drive sensibly, but i'll probably munch through the fronts before the rears are dead.
Or i could put the 2 new softs on the back and kill the remaining rs2's as fast as possible on the fronts.
Ofcourse i could just stop being a cheap skate and get 4 softs and consign the rs2's to the back of the shed. i got my moneys worth out of them. no balance problems then.

Some of the lads I used to sprint with recommended wets on the front (or driven wheels) as they would heat up quickly and used ones proved cheap enough to buy (in some sizes)

have always run the other way around on FWD......very soft on the rear so they come straight to temp and a slightly harder front
