Master cylinder?

Gents,
I've noticed under prolonged or hard braking, that the brake warning light comes on briefly.
On checking the master cylinder, I've seen it looks like fluid is weeping slightly from where the master cylinder connects with the servo?
Is there an O ring that could have deteriorated (It's the original unit), or is the whole thing fubar'd?
Also, if this is the reason the lights coming on, why would that be, there is plenty of fluid in the resevoir?
Thanks in advance for any help/advice. (Other than "get you brakes done!"

)

Is this on the s3?
Could be a fault stored in the abs memory "brake pressure sensor" common on old shape tt's not normally on s3's tho

Really? Any chance of some piceroos? Failing that, I'll send you one for comparison.
Thanks mate

A big thanks to dave today for coming to the rescue.
Due to a mad work schedule at the minute, in 3 and a bit months, my poor old car has done 5k, and I don't get much time to ruin things and then ask for a grown ups help. So Mr Judd squeezed the car into this mornings bookings, and fitted a lovely shiny new cylinder.
Apparently it is the same spec as the left hand drive ones, so maybe that's a quirk on it being such an early Mk 2.
Anyhow, it's all done, and it's so good to be driving a car and wondering if the brakes are suddenly going to give up the ghost.
I'm just penning a letter to Ford's asking for a goodwill contribution, after all the warranty only ran out 22 years ago

Cheers Dave!!

Steering? Brakes? All you need now is some power and you'll be laughing
Good to hear you've sorted it and you must owe Dave a beer or tow; handy having a mate that can bail you out when things get complicated
