Has anyone used Toyo R1R's yet??

I've read the few reviews available online and it just seems to be people raving about them. They fit between the T1R's and the R888's. Better than T1R's but not as extreme as the 888's although they are over twice the price of T1R's and not far off the price of 888's.

A couple of the reviews i've seen put these at about 2secs quicker on track than T1R's.

I don't doubt they are good and a big improvemnet on T1R's but an objective view from any BP member that's used them would be excellent, and are they twice as good as T1R??

I'd be very surprised if they aren't!
T1R's absolutely suck on track. They overheat too quickly and the side walls may as well be made from blamange.
Bloody awful track tyre in my opinion, I and several mates have trashed a set in a day! (although they were fitted to lardy newage scoobies)
Fortunately I work for a Toyo dealer and I'm sure I can persuade by boss to let me test a set of R1R's for research purposes when my R888's are shot.
I'll report back then.

Just for interests sake, can you get me a price on some 195/50/15s Jon? (R1-R's please)

These things have been a long time coming; I reckon the T1-R's and R888's are very different tyres subject to the weight, as Jon suggests. I've used Toyo's in different sizes and types with different cars of differing weights and the obvious outcome is, the heavier the car the worse the performance.

Essentially, most of the cars powerful enough to break traction will rinse a set of pure road tyres very quickly when used on a race track; especially if you are really trying. The construction of the R1-R is supposed to be more akin to the R888, so stiffer sidewalls than the T1-R. All conjecture from me Francis, but I'll happily let everyone know once I have some for Grace.

No problem Stu, I'll call Toyo on Monday. Although I'm fairly sure that Camskill will (as usual) be selling these for less than the rrp Toyo set.
Tbh, We've not had single enquiry for these, So whether it's because they are too expensive, Not available in the UK yet or ..., I don't know.

I think Camskill have them in although they are not revealing prices online. You have to call to find out how much they are.

My OE size is 215/45/17 but i've been using 225's instead for a good while now.

Perhaps i ought to be sitting down when they tell me the price.

Why don't you guys use the Federal RS-R's that i am doing?

They have nice stiff sidewalls and are great value

195/50/15, 215/40/17 and 235/40/17 in stock.

Do you have any prices, feedback on the tyres or links to reviews from people that have tried them Eddy? I'd happily look at something that offers similar performance for less dollars.

Had a set of these on my subaru for some time now (888 to noisy on the road) and cambskill had them on special offer at the time . Have used them on track at brands hatch and they were ok , looking at the pattren i think they may be reasonable in the wet giving you one tyre for all occasions which is handy.
