BMW X3 air con belts ?

Post by Honda Rush »

Just asking if anyone has come across this before ?
I have a 06 BMW X3 M Sport 2.0 diesel had 8k on the clock when purchased at 46k it throws off the aircon belt, replace and then throws it off again at 49k replace, replace again at 50k and again at 50500.

It runs from the crank pulley which looks fine straight to aircon unit pulley and bearings look and feel fine, Allways replaced with genuine BMW belt. Bolts on aircon unit are tight so should be ok.

Spoke to BMW service dept and have never heard off this problem and no recalls.

Spoke to mechanic friend who rang a mate who has a mate within BMW service and recons it is the rubber damper within the crank pulley breaking up allowing the pulley to osoliate and throw the belt etc.
