Big wing sump or Baffled sump.
Which is better for track / race use and what are the benifits and prblems if any. We will be modifing the sump very soon and just wanting a bit of advice.

My understanding, probably picked up from a box of cornflakes, is that the differences are an increase in capacity, I think the 'wings' reduce the chance of oil starvation. A baffled sump stops the oil swilling around as much as a non baffled one, therefore reducing the chances of oil starvation.
What's better? Depends on where your oil pick ups are I guess. Increased capacity and better control of the oil are both desirable qualities mate. Short of dry sumping the thing, you could always consider Ben's Accusump off of my old GTR. I know I bang on about that set up all of the time, but I rate it highly and the flexibility that it gave me (dry sumping was simply not an option) was first rate.
Best of luck; maybe have a chat to someone that builds oil systems (Pace are linked with Gary at APT now if that helps)
