hi all, im thinking of getting the project bmw on the move again after months of it sitting there, and no interest in selling.
my main question is, im considering fitting a megasquirt fuel and spark management system to the car. its a bmw m30 3.5 inline 6 engine. does anyone have any experience using megasquirt? im just trying to get an idea of how much of a job it will be before breaking the bank? ive got fairly good electrical knowledge, but dont want to end up in too deep, if you know what i mean.
any ideas, or comments and suggestions are welcome.

regards, pete.

That's interesting to know Gary.

The Dax has a M/S and it seems pretty good not many 'professional' tuners like them.

There's a guy, registered on here, Daxtojeiro, I think who sells the kit or will make them up, http://www.extraefi.co.uk/

Be careful with the ebay ones apparently.

Yes it can work ok.
I have a customer who built and initially mapped his own system and then had it fine tuned at TDI. It has given him 210 bhp from his standard 1.4 8 valve with a fairly special turbo though.

From a standard 1.4 8V what Eddy?

I knew someone that was looking at this ECU system a while ago as they had carried out a rather unusual engine swap (4g63 into a Balero I think) Pretty sure they ended up going with something else, Emerald from memory, due to support from mappers and tuners.

It is a Fiat Punto GT3. The owner came to a meet last year with the car. I have been involved in the project from the start and the engine has never been opened up. Amazing reliability. I will try to get the exact dyno figures and a graph for any doubters!

Sounds interesting Eddy!

We've got a customer who regularily buys parts for his Punto GT, and bores the poor parts guy senseless with his claims that it's running 400bhp. :icon_bs: Chinny, chin, chin, lol
