Revs not dropping instantly when foot lifted.

I am having a wee problem with the Mondeo. When I take my foot off the loud pedal, the revs take approx 2 seconds before they drop. As you can imagine this could cause some issues whilst driving on the queens highway.

I am thinking it is a sticky throttle cable but I am just wondering if anyone would have any ideas as to whether that is the most likely or could there be some other reason for it.

It is the 2.5l V6 24 valve Duratec engine.

Many thanks

Nik

Vacuum hose around the intake

Should only be a case of replacing it or pushing it back on properly

Of course, what I know about cars you could write in bold font on an ants cock.

2-3 second delay can be quite nornal on some modern cars as its used as an anti stall devise and also for the emission system/purge vapors to settle down.

But the link from Rob S, does sound very plausable and may be worth a try.
