strange boost problem

just been setting up my gimzo boost controller again after running in my newly rebuilt 200 engine...

the spec of the engine isnt that special :-
rebuilt standard head lapped valves, very tiny skim
86.5mm wossner pistons
standard rods
1.2mm trust mhg
turbo technics hybrid turbo
h-dev stage 2 chip
gizzmo ms-ibc

when i first turning the boost up it was as if the car was coughing it felt nothing like a missfire at same time the car started surging as the power came in till full boost around 0.7-0.8bar

checked the safc-2 knock gauge and nothing showing up on that ...

did another setting up run and the surge got less, did another run and got the boost spot on and the surging has stopped :? maybe the plugs have been covered in crap from the running in period and cleaned off after a few decent runs?

im going to get a new intercooler pipe on saturday as its perished a bit a started cracking
check the plug gaps
check the timing and base idle again (was checked at first start and 500miles into running in)
the fuel filter is new and so is the air filter

just wondering if anyone has suffered anything like this with their cars?

Hi Adam!
My Scoob seems to suffer the exact same symptoms you`ve discribed. I tend to get it when i`ve been running in traffic or off boost, This i have put down to the plugs fouling up, as its been running without a lambda connected for a while, so runs very rich when off boost! A mile or so down the road on boost and it clear! 8)

hmm i do suspect my lamba sensor on its last legs if its left to idle the voltage just sticks to around 0.03 or something stupid, if i rev it the voltage goes up and down again as if its working

maybe its lamba + running in caused the plugs to foul

i'll get a new lamba sensor on pay day aswell :-D

Good luck! Please post up your findings, so i can definatly point the finger at the lambda! - its been like it for so long now, i`m used to it!

just checked the timing with 2 different timing lights and its defo at 15degrees so thats ruled out

also put in new spark plugs one more grade colder than what i had in already

fitted milko clamps aswell to the boost pipes

still getting this surge like feeling :? its got a full tank of v power and hasnt been run on anything but v power since it was rebuilt
its got a walbro fuel pump in it aswell so now im kinda leaning towards lamba and coolant temp sensor or maybe fuel pump dieing when its not even a year old :?:
