where to begin?

firstly i'm not sure if this is general technical or just general, so i'll let the mods move it if they see fit.
as the title says, where to begin?
it now looks unlikely that i'll be buying a car purely for a bit of weekend fun so will be limited to getting as much fun as i can out of my day to day runner. rather than throw myself blind into sprints, climbs or whatever i though i'd ask peoples opinions on what my car would be best suited to (makes sense to me).
it's a 1.6tdci fiesta with remap and close ratio box, not big power yet but great oaks from little acorns grow.
opinions, thoughts, comments welcome. apart from 'get a proper car'

At least you'll be hammering round a circuit and still getting 40mpg

That oaks and acorns cliche has been done to death over the centuries.
Just flog the oiler and get a proper car. :-D

Actually, how about autotests or autosolos as they're now called?
Look like they could be fun but not for anything with any decent power as it's too tight and short.

Agree with Gerry, lots of low down torque in a small car would be a distinct advantage and todays modern diesels have it bucket loads.
Isn't that right Monsieur Gerry, mon ami avec le grand Citroen fumeur!!

Come along to the May meet and enter the autotest as a sampler, see how you like it. You just may surprise yourself and a few others.
