I'm pretty sure there's no roll pin in the rear joint/diff connection. Just a spring clip retainer that needs a bit of ajolt to get free. I think a flat lever between the diff casing and inside edge of the joint, give it a clonk and that should free it off.

I'm searching for a manual that shows this.

I've just had a look at my 2002 manual and Gerry is absolutely right about the way the rear drive shaft comes out, circlip and all. Even the internals of the rear drive shaft are different and a shedload easier to do. Just one retaining clip and it's apart.

 Sorry Mike, i misinformed you about the removal thinking it was the same as the fronts. I've remove that posting!!

Rears look even easier to do than the fronts.

 That'll teach me for not looking in the manual first!!

Nice one Gerry!! :thumb:

Here's a link to the manual on my webspace:

Click on the link, a dialogue box appears and just save to wherever you want. It won't take long to download if you have broadband.

Actually Francis, we were both wrong.

Mike's OK at getting the shaft out, it's how to remove the drive joint for replacing the boot he's after.

I've had a look and you need to dismantle the joint to get to the circlip that holds the inner joint section to the shaft.

There are split boots that glue together if you're ultra idle :D

I'm glad you read it properly Gerry.

I've been too busy in the garage dismantling the old boy and smashing and cutting my fingers to bits in the pursuit of more power!!

Anyway...it's all there in the manual!! :D

P.S. I'll take the split ultra idle boots please :thumb:

One of these would do the job, those glue together ones are a bit of a bodge.
