R888s in Winter

Having recently taken delivery of a new set of Toyo's finest, I was a little worried to read the warning label regarding cold weather. I've bought a few sets of these before now and none have had this label attached:

I have two sets on rims at whatever pressure they were last used at and sat outside in the cold weather.

First thing is to drop the presures after checking them over. There's no way I have room to store a dozen wheels inside, not and still have someone else do the cooking, washing, ironing, cleaning, shopping and other womanly duties (if she reads that I'm dead).

Another point is the 20oC for 24 hours before fitting. Unless we have a particularly warm summer, again, there's no-way.

Anyone else aware of this and if so, how do you deal with it?

Read that when we got ours at the start of the year. The first round at Donny and it snowed then froze the night before and we had the tyres on the car and drove to donny with them on through the snow and ice. We have not had any problems with them through the year. Although now they are stored indoors or in the shed.

As for the 20*C....take em to bed with you or give them a space in front of the fire

Storage....I thought you kept them in the wagon. I've got room in my garage if you need it, although there's no guarantees i won't have tried them out by the time you get to use them.

All in the spirit of science though!!

Interesting to read that. In the three or four years that I've used R888's they've never been treated as per that label............

If you need the wheels and tyres babysitting at the lock up mate, let me know.

Thanks for the offer Stu but the new ones are tucked up in the shed and the shod wheels will have to fend for themselves. I'll drop the pressures though.

I don't have anything big enough to carry 16 wheels/tyres

Thats an interesting label.
wonder if it is just to cover them self's, but as Stuart said a lot of you have been using them as normal over the past year or so.
But still make you think especially for early year track events

better check mine out, the mk2 has been off road for a month or so, never knew of any temp problems in the past with them :roll:

I really wouldn't worry too much although any amount of concern that it puts in your mind at this time of year, may not be such a bad thing.

We may be able to get the details on the label confirmed by Toyo if it's a big deal. My take on it is that they are summer/sports tyres that I would always bring up to temperature before I relied on their grip. Bad weather conditions or extreme cold would always make more cautious anyway.
