I need new pads and discs

Guys

After Snetterton today I have a hunch I need new pads and discs on the 2. Under braking there was a vibration through the pedal (not exactly confidence building LOL), not 100% certain what it was, but thinking as was going to change them anyway I would start with replacing pads, discs and fitting braided hoses.

Anyone got any advice on what set up, I would like bigger discs but got to see if calipers will still fit. Don't want to spend the earth so ideally will keep existing calipers for now.

Cheers

Try to buy the brakes off of a turbo model. Seem to remember that they are bigger discs and calipers :D

Just checked that out and it would appear that the Mk2 rev 1 had smaller brakes and they were upgraded on the Rev 2 onwards but the N/A and the tubby were the same so back the the drawing board.

One of the lads at work has a pair of Alfa 156 GTA 300mm 4-pot calipers (inc. pads and discs) that I had my eye on, but I didn't have the funds to get brackets made-up to fit mine. As far as I know they're re-badged Brembo's.

They might be a tad over-kill for the MR 2 though. It'll end-up on it's nose at the chicane...

Which pads???? Been looking and it's a minefield. has anyone heard of Carbotech pads? Prob put grooved discs on at same point.

Also had it suggested that the judder may be ABS but I thought that would be a vibration as in every other car I've driven (all have been newer than the 2 though) and this felt more of a wobble/judder.

I don't think yours has got ABS has it? I don't remember disconnecting any wires when we removed the hubs for the diff seals... :-k

Carbotech are very good, just make sure you choose a suitable application for how you drive (road/track etc)

Wouldn't have been ABS imho.

i did have an issue once which juddered so bad on the bmw it was like an earthquake in the cockpit every time you braked i renewed the discs and sorted the problem , someone said i could be pad build up on the disc iirc but i thought i had possibly warped them with my 3/4hr session at cadwell  perhaps give alyn at asp or Dr hayward a call to see what they recommend as it all depends on what you want from it ,poss some ebc yellows might be ok for what you require .

good luck

I've used Carbotech XP10s on my standard size Honda brakes and they worked great, no fade and excellent bite. They did only last one trackday though
