Spray painting advice please

I thought I had better check what I am supposed to be doing as I have never spray painted anything of any size before. I am happy with the prep work I have done, the bodywork is primed and sanded ready for the paint. What I need to know is this, I am spraying blue pearlescent paint - do I keep going over the bodywork every 15 minutes or so with the paint until I have good cover and then put 2 coats of lacquer on it straight away?

What I am trying to ask is do you put the paint on one after the other with no real drying time, say in a mornings work - probably 4 coats of blue 2 coats lacquer?

All the paint is in spraycans

I hope this makes sense

Thanks
