problems with my impreza :(

A few of you may know that i had a map tweek on my car a couple of weeks ago, all was good and it made 383bhp pn the rollers.

over the last week, i have noticed that it has not been making as much boost as normal (1.5 bar peek) and it has only been getting to 1.35/1.4 bar peek. i have tried different gears/reves to see if i can get the 1.5 bar but with no luck.

i have been in contact with someone at the garage where i had it mapped, and they thought it was down to the warmer weather. i was not to convinced with this, and today it was a colder day after it had been raining here.

i went out for a sprited drive, and again it was getting i.35 ish peek boost. i was changeing between low boost (B) and high boost (A) on my apexi avcr and testing again. low boost (1.10bar) was fine and reached it ok.

abit down the road, it could not get the car to go over 1.1 peek bar, i was thinking it was in low boost setting, but it was not, and somehow it looks like my avcr has copied the settings from the low boost onto the high boost settings. both say 1.10 bar, and 57% duty.

I have booked my car back in with my mapper for him to have another look at it. I am still unsure why it was not reaching full boost to start off with, and after the avcr not working right, just adds icing to the cake :(

I have checked all the boost pipes and they are all fine. and have not had problems with the apexi avcr before (had it around 1 year)

anyone know anything i could check/try?

Have you tried adjusting the avcr to add more duty or switch on the in gear learning?

i have not got a clue how the avcr works, and dont want to cause any problems. i chatted with JGM and he said there was a batch of apexi avcr, that copied the B settings onto the A settings. this looks like what it has done, but it has not done it before, and i have owned it for around a year now

This is just a stab in the dark but could it be the garage that did the mapping didn't really know what they were doing??

Then the best diagnosis they can give you is that's it's either down to the weather or a bad batch of AVCR's.

If you have had it a year unlikely it's anything to do with a bad batch of AVCR's, and if it was really to do with the weather temps normally you wouldn't feel any real ill effects until about 15/16 C ambient temps. That's when i start to noticed boost on mine struggling to reach targets.

I know bugger all about AVCR's but it's odd that shortly afater a garage have mapped your car it seems to be malfunctioning or your car is struggling to reach anywhere near target boost.

That would be ringing alarm bells for me about this garage. Get them to sort it, that's what you paid for, or if you are unhappy about going back get someone else to take a look at it.

just to clear things up JGM didnt map my car this time, he has giving me info on have i have told him. another garage mapped it, and i have been there a few times, and they know what they are doing.

i may of even just pressed the wrong button on the avcr, but nothing that i noticed doing

I'm just a bit of a pessimist when it concerns some garages and the horror stories i hear from time to time.

Also having been ripped off in the past and as a victim of shoddy workmanship by a couple of garages (to include a Subaru Stealership i shall not name) it rings alarm bells when people write stories as similar to your own.

However, now that you have explained yourself clearly :thumb: i take back all of my previous post and come to the conclusion that it can only be one thing.....

.....It's all your fault!! :P
