I am going to need to get a load of new tubing for the catch can relocation and wondered whether there was any reason why alternative hosing couldnt be used such as Samco or braided stuff?

Braided PVC will harden with the oil and heat. Silicone doesn't like oil too much but it gets used, reinforced rubber, of the right grade, would be fine. Or, if you want the fancy look, go for stainless braiding. Pirtek do a braided PTFE that's an arm and a leg and would want terminating with fittings.

Duncan,
The silicone companies do a flouro lined hose, but this is expensive. I use oil cooler cose which is oil transfer compatible of course.
How much do you need and what size?

If so 1/2" oil cooler hose would be ideal.

The heads are about 1/2" but the crankcase is bigger, on mine anyway. Does your engine use both crankcase breathers?

I dont think so Gerry - they are only 3 breather pipes connected to the can. I dont think they are t pieced together.

I'll check in the morning what size I've used.

Duncan, standard R6 cooler hose is very reasonable :-D
I also have this in stainless braided and at the top end of the scale some nice blue Aeroquip which is what i have used for the catch tank on my Pulsar. You can choose whjat you want if you make it to the shop next week unless you want it sooner.
