just wanted some input from you guys as to what type of oil is reccomended for running an engine in with.
opie told me to use fusch XTR 10w40 semi-syn but alot of of people have said to only use mineral, opie said that semi-syn is 100% mineral based.
i want to give the nur the best possible start
what are peoples veiws?

how can 'semi' be 100% mineral???
either use cheap as you like 10w40 from local discount centre or we use Millers CRO10w40 pukka running-in oil..........

Tell you what my view is, just like I always do on MSN
You are paying a professional to install your engine so why not ask that same professional what he thinks? I appreciate that the questions you ask are feeding the interest you have in the build up to your car being back onto the road, but please do not take anything that you read or hear with any credence at all
until you have spoken to your professional first.
Only my view of course..........even though I am right :whogivesa:

i forgot to mention i already bought 10ltrs of the the semi-syn opie reccomended.
which is one reason why i want to find out which oil is the correct one as i may aswell pour it down the drain if its not right for running in

Is Simon or Guy building your engine?
At some point there has to be a transfer of trust otherwise you're gonna drive yourself mad. From first hand experience, I have shopped around and spent hours disecting the minutae of detail and eventually thought 'sod it' and gone with my preferred tuners advice. I know don't bother doing all of the rummaging, I short cut it and just make a call. Less hassle and so much faster.....leaving me to research more important things like paint colour
Your call mate, but hours of surfing and hundreds of differing opinions from people with an indeterminate quality or experience?? Your call.
