video help

ok guys you knew it was inevitable ,i need to be able to edit my video footage so i can then put it on you tube i pressume
and then link it top here i've try windows movie maker and it just dissappears before i have finished i have downloaded
a codec thingy from the web but its just doing my head in , i don't need anything complicated just need to shorten them
any recommendations would be grately received

At what stage are you loosing your video
Also if you upload it to google video you can put up longer footage.

pablo when i drag the frames down i do a few then it just dissapears without a trace

You can try another way, slightly longer but might work.
Left click on the clip you want to add to highlight it
Click on the word clip at top of page
then click add to storyboard.

MovieMaker is very memory intensive - I used to have all sorts of problems with it locking up and going wrong - my machine has a gig of memory now - make sure only Movie Maker is running - as above create a new project, I would say save it after you drag down each frame .... it's such a flaky product.
Pinnacle is another vid edit product - did you package not come with software?.

ben i didn't get any software with my camera package .i just have a solid state recorder which stores mpeg4 onto a sdhc card

thanks guys, tommy how long did it take the videos of yours to upload to you tube :?:
my 3min video took 25mins to upload to photobucket so something is amiss somewhere along the line i think :roll:

It's takes a while. I use the bulk uploader for multiple videos and leave it on overnight. 25 mins to upload a 3 min video sounds about right.
