Db / Noise Limits on Trackdays

I'm interested in a Donnington trackday BUT the noise limit is 98db :/

Our car isnt very loud, but it's not exactly quiet. R32 GTR running 400bhp
Where can i test this before commiting?!

The noise limit at Donnington is drive by so going to be quite difficult to get it tested in that way unless you have a friendly circuit up near you that will do it for you. We can run static tests at Snetterton at our club meets but the difference in noise on static and drive by is enough for me to not be able to run on the Donny quiet days

I suspect that yours will be similar and will be getting black flagged during the day the same as Gerry H did when he was there with his quiet exhaust system on.

Like Duncan said, I was kicked off last year for being 100+ on drive-by meters and that was after fitting a system that's 93dB on a static test and turning down the boost.

I think the non-quiet days are 105dB for fewer cars so more expensive.

i thought it was normally quieter on the driveby? (suppose that depends on mic location etc)

I think it's the boost that makes the difference plus induction noise combined.

Some tracks, like Goodwood will tell you where the meters are and to ease off near them. The 'jobs worth' marshall at Donny resfused to say when I asked :roll:

It used to be along the straight just before the Melbourne loop entrance, or esses if you're on the national circuit. A few years ago they were quite open about that in the briefing, things have tightened since then
