I'm having major traction issues.

I've looked at the alloys i bought and to my surprise they are 10's on the rear which i can't believe as they are currently runnig 255's so luckly i will get a decent grip with the right tyres


The fronts are 17x8jj and the rears 17x10jj which are pretty big.

Not many manufactures make tyres over 265 for a 17" and i need as much traction as possible.

Toyo go upto 265/40/17
Verdestein Ultrac 275/40/17 and a cheaper option Falken FK452 275/40/17
Kumho ECSTA Sport 285/40/17 cheaper than all above.

Initially i would go for the largest being the Kumho but just because they are bigger don't mean they will provide more grip as they could be crap, Toyo i would get if they were bigger and Verdestein are meant to be good but very expensive as for the Falken they are fairly priced and heard very good things about them like they are better than Toyo's and Eagle F1s

What about the fronts? stick to what's currently on there? 225/45/17 or go for a 235?

Also what about the profiles? would a different profile be better instead of 45 front and 40 rear?

As much info and help as possible please as it's currently dangerous to drive, spinning in 4th/5th is scary

with profile you will need to keep the rolling circumference of the wheels the same as your standard wheels were...use this to help you

i have falkens on mine...they aren't to bad

Toyos are a better option

when was the car last aligned? as that makes a massive difference to grip and handling

I heard the other day that the Toyo and Falken come out of the same Factory.

Also heard that although Kuhmo used to have a bad name (ditch finders) they are now a very good and respectable tyre esepcially the Escta Sport. Is there any truth in that statement?? if so they will be worth a look as A: they are loads cheaper and B: i can get them in a 285 on a 17" rim. I'm not one for thinking oh they are nice and cheap get them but if they are a good tyre and bigger it may make sense.

i dont think the falkens and toyos are made in the same factory...however stranger things have happened.

Your right regarding the Kuhmo's - hey are a highly regarded tyre..i have quite a few friends that have run them and are extremely happy with them..so definetely worth a shout.

theres also no harm in looking for a bargain - especially when the bargain is a very good option

i need 45 on the front and 40 on the rear, can't match them exactly but that's the closest i can get with those profiles.

Decided not to get the Kuhmo going to get the falkens
