A question about rubber sealant........

.............and not a pervy one :D

I am getting the shell ready for painting and wanted to know what sort of products people had used to remove the old sealant that was left in place after removing the windshield.

I suppose Shooter or Mr Windscreen would be best placed to answer this but any sensible advice or guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Scraper and some elbow grease is how I've always done it. :(

There must be an easier way Nik.........I have used brute strength and ignorance for many things in my life, I had rather hoped this project may be a little different.

If its going to be re-painted a wire wheel on a drill is about the best thing going, if you need to remove without damaging the paintwork, then warm with a hair-drier/hot air gun and a plastic scraper.

I would say there is a product on the market somewhere as there are such things as silicon eater type products, but I wouldn't have a clue where to look for it. There is one company that does all sorts of automotive cleaning products, they are called Wurth if I recall correctly.

there must be somebody on here who works in a body shop who would have a solvent based product to remove this :wink:

I have a wire wheel and I have a drill, so I'll get medieval on it later in the week and see how it goes. Will post amusing pictures later :D

Had some fun with a drill and wire brush, in relation to the car ;) , and have removed all that I'll need to on this ocassion.
