A question about rubber sealant........

Post by Stuart »

.............and not a pervy one :D

I am getting the shell ready for painting and wanted to know what sort of products people had used to remove the old sealant that was left in place after removing the windshield.

I suppose Shooter or Mr Windscreen would be best placed to answer this but any sensible advice or guidance will be greatly appreciated.

There must be an easier way Nik.........I have used brute strength and ignorance for many things in my life, I had rather hoped this project may be a little different.

If its going to be re-painted a wire wheel on a drill is about the best thing going, if you need to remove without damaging the paintwork, then warm with a hair-drier/hot air gun and a plastic scraper.

I would say there is a product on the market somewhere as there are such things as silicon eater type products, but I wouldn't have a clue where to look for it. There is one company that does all sorts of automotive cleaning products, they are called Wurth if I recall correctly.
