1996 S14 Auto to Manual...the adventure begins!

Well, going to make my car useful now and not just a static S14! I have been talking with Gary, and the possible is just a few hundred quid away! Once all of the parts are in and ready to be abused, I'll be heading up to APT for an S14 makeover! Any help on ANY part would be greatful! Send me a pm if you have any ideas! 8)

I would think that you will need:
Manual gearbox
Complete pedal box
Clutch slave cylinder
Clutch master cylinder
Hydraulic pipework for the above
Flywheel
Clutch
Gear stick and surrounds
Not sure on:
Gearbox mount / cross-member?
Different starter motor?
Propshaft?
ECU?
It would be worth having a look on SXOC.com to see what people have had to do in the past. It may be better to look on there for one being broken too, then you can get all the bits & bobs from one place

Gearbox

M/T flywheel
Flywheel bolts ( bolts are longer for M/T )
Spigot bush
M/T propshaft
Clutch pedal
Brake pedal from a manual car ( or cut down auto brake pedal )
Cutch Plate
Clutch cover
Clutch release bearing ( buy a clutch kit and you get plate, cover and bearing together)
Clutch bolts
Gear Lever ( I changed to a short shifter )
Clutch Master cylinder
Clutch Slave cylinder
All hydraulic lines
shift boot and plate
console interior trim and gear knob
gearbox oil and clutch fluid

To put it simply Brian this would be near on impossible to complete over a weekend and would cost you heaps of money and effort. You sure you still want to do it!?
I would be willing to lend a hand if you needed it.

If you have all the parts, and a suitable place to work, it isn't a real pain. My S13 change probably took about 8-10 hours on my own without rushing.
The S14 isn't particularly different, but the best advise I can give is make sure you pull the engine rather than trying to do it all from under the car.
It makes changing the flex plate / flywheel and subsequent reassembly so much easier.

The funds are in and the manual rebuild is now inwork :-D . Going to take a while to fully rebuild a stock manual tranny up to my personal spec. I'll get pics up as soon as I have time to get things rolling!! It's looking to be a fun but long engagement, but it will be done! :shoot:
Going to buy new (besides the transmission, manual ECU, and stock interior):
ACT 6 puck heavy duty carbon clutch kit (bought) :thumb:
Fidanza lightweight flywheel
Uprated single peice lightweight driveshaft
Manual crossmember
Nismo tranny mount
B&M short shift kit
Nismo gear gater
Nismo shift knob
Nismo big operating cylinder
Nismo clutch pedal bracket
Nismo steel braided clutch hose
C-One shift lever mount bush
And to finish her off, royal purple fluids!
And the fun begins!

What ECU are you going with? Do you want a stock ecu or after market? I may be able to help you out with either upgarage or yahoo auctions. Let me know and I'll start asking some friends back in Japan to start shopping.
