Had a problem last week with my starter cog not seeming to retract from the flywheel and was making an anoying rubbing sound. The starter was changed and the problem was still there. A bit confused(easily done) I coudn't work out what was wrong. Then I went to start the car and nothing happend execpt a metalic spinning noise :x Took the starter out and found this had happend to the flywheel

After being pissed off about something else going wrong with the car and having to pay for the whole lot to come out again, I thought I'd carry out my first bit of major car diy. Everything came off pretty easily and went back on not so. At least it's finished now and only have have one bolt left over which I forgot to use on the battery bracket

So what do think caused the flywheel to brake? I don't think it could be the starter as I've put the original one back on and it starts fine with my spare flywheel. On closer inspection the outer gear teeth are only held on by 3 small allen bolts. Maybe one of these went which caused the rubbing, then the other 2 were under more stress, these failed and the flywheel was f**ked.

I'm now waiting for the very unhelpfull reseller to email me a receipt so Fidanza will take it back to have a look at.
