Now i put this in the stupid questions section as i couldnt think of where else ot put it.. but its not really a stupid question..

I need genuine serious answers as its a possibility..

If i had a private investor..... who could fund me substantially........

and i wanted to buy rare, well spec'd or mint standard Jap cars that have a good re-sale value without having to go down the line of importing them myself,

where do i look, not places like autotrader/pistonheads... but as in the importers direct.. who just bring them in.. and then I deal with the funding of DVLA

registering, MOT's Tax and making them UK Standard etc..

then i can sell them on at a profit.. or some similar way of locating these cars

does anyone know of a place that i could attain these cars...or is it better to source them in Japan and bring them over? Its just the risk is too high initially..

Its just that i have the oppertunity to maybe start something that id like to persue...

May seem far fetched but as some will agree if the initial funds are there, money can be made...its just a case of where and thats why im asking.

Newera are the people to bring in good condition cars, but you do not stand to make much as already said.
Try one of the specialist auction houses such as Liverpool Docks or i think there is one down south possibly Plymouth. They issue a list each week of what has come in and you can bid remotely is necessary, but you really need to know your stuff mate. This way you stand to make more money. Discount to me if you go for it then?

Thanks guys for the info much appreciated, as stated really it was just an enquiry, basically my partners father wants to invest in getting a few and seeing how it goes, but with me doing the work.. its probably easier to try one from Japan, will take a lot of planning.. but will see. Will have a try at the docks also, thanks eddy.. will keep posted if anything comes of this!!

Dont bother with dockside auctions,

They arte just the cheapest sweepings off the japanese auction room floors that specualtive importers buy mega cheap to make a quick few quid on in Blighty. They usually have a long list of problems and turn out to be nightmares.

Miguel is good at getting nice cars and often has some interesting stuff like the Fast and Furios ones, but he doesnt seem to specialise in aynything "WOW !!" like Andy at Powervehicles does or Drag and Drift for that matter. These would be the two guys I would be getting onside to be my Japanese eyes and ears for me if I were to do what you are discussing. Miguel too for those rare high end minters and hard to get cars as the more contacts the merrier.

All that being said I wouldnt personally specualte on Jap cars though, I would stick to the more traditional "You want it, we find it" route or perhaps have some "shared" japanese stock that you can always stick back through the auctions over there if you cant get buyers over here. Much as I'd love a local dealer who stock Mines 34's, Mugen NSX's and Top Secret Supras with the odd KPGC10 thrown in I dont think that dealer would last long given the prices he would be asking or the minute customer base he would be selling to.

However, I'll have a turbo'd NSX widearch with carbon bodywork for 20k please !!!!

And i will have a KPGC10 please. 8)
