R32 GTR aircon removal?

Post by Nik »

Hi guys,

I am wanting to remove the aircon on the GTR whilst I have the engine bay in a mess to replace the relocation kit etc.

Is it possible to do it myself or do I need someone to do it for me? i.e draining the system etc.

Do I need any parts to block anything off or change anything etc or is it just a case of removing the parts that are to do with the aircon?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Nik

Just pull the pipe of and stand back

Remove the aircon pump and pipes and the aircon rad you will need a different Aux belt if you remove the pump

Ok, thanks Martin. Luckily the aircon pump runs off of a seperate belt so that won't be a problem. :)

You should really have the system professionally de-gassed as the gas is not very environmentally friendly. And the planet is in a bad enough state as it is.
Stands down from soap box. :)

When cars are in crashes the gas comes out then :?:

And why pay a stupid amount to have it degassed when pulling a pipe of is free :D

You should try getting a face full of that stuff. I was helping a mate to take the engine out of his R33 GTR and he told me it had been degassed. Guess what? It still had pressure in the system so when I undid one of the pipes it spat the gas and tracer all over me. I looked like the incredible hulk :D. He then got his UV lamp out and it was even more impressive.

Luckily, I have cat-like reflexes and managed to shut my eyes and mouth. :D:D
