Classic Impreza Geometry / Springs.

Hi, i have some KYB adjustable shocks with Eibach springs. The springs seem too soft for my liking, the ride height is ok perhaps a bit high.
What other spring options do you reccommend and what sort of feed back from the different options?

I have Whiteline Flat out springs on STI 5 shocks. I find this good for sprinting and its fine when at speed on B-roads etc, they are just a tad harsh on pot holes going slow.

If you haven't done aready, get some uprated anti roll bars, makes a world of difference!

Scooby owners with Eibachs tend to rave about how good they are. Personally I found them crap. Far too soft for track use and that was with Ohlin dampers. So much for other people's opinions! But here's mine anyway

After that I went to KW variant 3s and rate them highly as gvm. Dynamix had EXE-TC fitted yesterday and is raving about them although much more expensive than KWs. If I could have afforded the extra dosh, I'd probably have gone that way too.

Have you tried your STi springs with the KYBs? That was one combination I didn't try as I sold on my STi suspension too soon :roll: The STi springs are shorter and firmer than Eibachs.

As Logan says. The Whiteline stuff is excellent. ARBs, anti-lift kit (misnomer there as it doesn't do what it says) adds castor; adjustable top mounts for added castor & camber. A good geometry set up helps enormously.

Interesting....will be able to compare Duncs exes and my KWs on monday.

If you are on a budget, a set of secondhand STi5/6 struts are good if they are still tight, as Gerry has said and as Logan uses to good effect.

My set up so far

Kyb Adjustable shocks
Eibach springs
Whiteline 22mm rear ARB
Rear arb Whiteline wire links
Whiteline anti lift kit
Front arb links to be fitted (SCA couldnt work out how to fit them).
Alignment carried out by SCA

Im not that impressed with the set up at the moment, turn in is not very inspiring.

The springs i took off were very low and would scrape the arches most of the time.

What geometry settings did SCA use ? - they make a massive difference to the feel and performance of the car.

If they gave you a printout of the settings - can you scan and post it?

Go to Autotest for your alignment, thats the biggest thing to get right, if the set up is wrong doesn't matter how much you have spent on bits :!:

Go for the Group N/prodrive setting, adds negative camber and a bit of toe out and made my car feel 100% better than it did, sharp turn in etc.

To what Gerry said, don't put the STI 5/6 springs on, I hated them, too much pitch under heavy braking made the back end feel very light :!:

Dependant on cash etc in the winter, I am going to look out for some sort of coilover kit to see how that improvs things!

Front drop links don't match with STi wishbones. They don't line up properly. I presume you have alloy wishbones?

You need either the OE P1 links, from Subaru, that are ball jointed, or the Whiteline rose jointed drop links. Subaru ones are a bit cheaper but Whiteline are more substantial and offer adjustable length.

Bog standard settings. I have the printouts but no facility to scan them in at the mo.
