Turbo question?!?

Is it possible to make 400-425bhp from a mitsi td05 16g turbo :?: with the compressor maxed out :?: :oops:

Cheers for the advice Duncan, im not going chasing numbers. It was merely out of curiosity as someone claimed this figure :!:Impossible.
But, even it if was possible the turbo would be not running very efficiently at that range and would be heating the air to near inferno temperatures and your engine would not last.
Getting a bigger, better, more efficient turbo will help keep things cool as daft as it sounds and you wont need to run so much boost.
Dont go chasing numbers though Andy, go for a driveable option and remember that any modifications you make should be balanced against other mods. If you start stretching this, then it will find the next weakest link very quickly.
I would stick my neck out and say your engine will not stand anywhere close to that before rapidly destructing.
If you feel you need that bhp, then you will have to:
a) get a new engine
b) new clutch
c) probably a new gearbox too
d) new turbo
e) FMIC
f) have lots of money for the other bits that you might aswell do when it is all apart.
My advice would be to push power levels up slowly to learn how the car responds to it and see which bits need modifying next as almost doubling the power output on an old engine/car will lead to tears.
I call BS. definately not a true statement. what 16g are we talking about? small 16g, big 16g, or evo 3 16g? many different variants out there.... the evo 3 16g which happens to be the largest single scroll variant out that runs a td05H flows 585 CFM in standard form....do the math. it definately is possible to make 400bhp on that turbo...the question is very broad and basic and should be specific.....dynamix wrote:Impossible.

however at this point...I would look into another car...too many weak parts on the GC8....would spend more on the car then its worth IMO.

And there was me thinking it was common courtesy :?: :roll:intros are a bit overrated IMO. As far as experiences goes....well I have more than a few years at many different levels of racing...but not really interested in talking about myself to be honest.
