I've just bought a set of Brembo 4 pot calipers and EBC disc for my MY98 UK Impreza. I've been told they will not fit with my wheels though. I have BK racing 299s. Can I fit wheel spacers to get them to fit? If so what size spacers do I need?

Are the Brembo's fouling on the inside of the wheel spokes?
I've heard of this a couple of times actually, that only certain offset wheels wil go with the late spec Brembo brakes etc.

I suppose you could fit spacers, watch out for fouling on the wheel arches if you do that, and the wheels may look a little odd stuck outside your arches.

For cosmetic reasons, and not much else, the Brembo calipers are biiiig. Only a few wheels have got enough clearance for them. Might be worth picking up an 2nd hand set of newage STi wheels that will clear the calipers to give you some time to investigate other options

Like Rolty said. Easy option is STi wheels.

You could be clever and measure the gap between your current wheels and calipers. Then remove a wheel and measure the distance from where your caliper bolts to the hub, to the outside edge of the caliper.

Then measure the Brembo, hub face to outside edge. Compare the difference with the gap size you measured earlier. That'll give a reasonable idea.

Otherwise, remove your caliper, tie it up to the spring, out of the way without disconnecting the fluid hose. Bolt on a Brembo and carefully offer up the wheel. Only way to find out for sure really.

BTW if your wheels are 16" don't bother with the above, they won't fit.

Cheers for the advise guys.
I haven't tried them yet but I'll be having a look at the weekend. The wheels are 17" so they shouldn't be far off so I'm going to order a couple of 10mm spacers and some longer studs to see what it is like. If it looks silly I'll either sell the brakes or wait until I can get yet another set of wheels.
