Some guys on GTOUK are discussing this very subject at the moment....

I don't think there is a problem John, mine and plenty of other member's of GTOUK have had no issues with oil starvation, well no more than any other mark :?

I have to say that the latest victim of bottom end failure ie Steve on our board wasn't a complete surprise to me after watching his video, constant shock loading and unloading on any engine isn't good for the bottom end not to mention the strain on the drive chain :o .....I feel real sorry for the guy but I also think he needs to address his driving technique before attempting another track day after the rebuild. :(

My thoughts exactly!! .... just to add the car couldn't of been in the best of health before hand as he gets past by an automatic 'NA' GTO in that same video, normally the twin turbo is in a different league.

OUCH!!! Poor GTO...the guy did seem quite violent with the car and from my ears it sounds like he was over revving when engaging the next gear up.

Poor car :(

I been through the heart break of breaking my daily driver so I can emapthise but not as far as the car abuse.

Thats not really my style of driving

I want to fit at least a baffle or two with some trapdoors and knock the dent out of the sump... its probably touching the pick-up in one place...

Oh the joys of being able to see under the car without lying on your back   (car lift is fully functional now :-D )

JC

And I'm on the lookout for an AC TIG set.... roll on alloy intercooler pipework!

OMG - driving technique leaves a little to be desired. He is missing the turn in points completely, he hits the apex (well close enough) but then grabs it in rather than using the track to get the proper exit. All of this with an on/off throttle. Poor car :o You can tell he isnt quick when a bunch of 205's pull away from him.

A better understanding of the racing lines and mechanical sympathy would get him so much quicker and safer until he reaches the proper limits for the car.

It is always a shame to see mechanical problems but like the others here, i think they could have been avoided by smoothing out the driving.

The art of driving fast is making it feel slow ... not the other way around :D
