My battery is dead and I now need to get a new one. I,ve read that a micra battery will fit, if so which one? Also if I disconnect my old battery the alarm goes off!!! and wont stop so I can,t take it to my local motor store and get them to match it. Help please as my car is stuck in the garage. :x :x

the micra batteries are either an 044 or an 031.
go for a diesel or 3 year battery.
the way we used to do it with car alarms is using some wire ( preferably a good gauge and some crocodile clips ) connect them to the terminal clamps of the pos and neg of the car.
then connect them to a third battery.
undo any clamps that hold the battery in place
undo the two battery terminals and remove the old battery
with a second person holding the claps of the third battery and clips.
quickly replace wirth the new battery and place clamps back on.
do up and then un clip the third battery.

I've got a battery sitting in my shed, i took it off as I thought it was faulty - but it's fine.
There are a number of options when it comes to Skylines. Best bet is to measure the one you've got ... I assumed I needed a micra battery but not the case - Luckily found a product code - Is there a brand or code on your current battery. My battery is a unipart model.

make sure you get the right "hand" and post terminal sizes.
some jap cars have small pot terminals compared to europe.
the "hand" is which side the positive and negative are as you look down at the battery with the terminals nerest your belly.

normally with car alarms, as long as it isn't 'armed' then it should not be upset by disconnecting the terminals.......................
