okay guys - had a small petrol spillage when changing the fuel pump and some was spilt on the floor pan. It seems to have soaked into the base of one of my seats.

I have scrubbed with soapy water but wondered whether there were any tips to get rid of the smell quickly?

or can you ring refined reflections?

You could put a small haddock or tench under the seat also. Won't remove the petrol smell but will take your mind off it

:lol: now that would be unpleasent ... all i can say is it won't last long - when we did my fuel pump I had a full tank - and the car stank of petrol. lasted about a week - are you able to leave the car in the garage with the windows open?.

You could always try that method the nutter in seven used of hanging hundreds of those little trees to cover up the smell of the rotting victim .

I have found the source of the problem - an incorrectly seated gasket from when the fuel pump was changed. Have re-fitted now and hopefully this will solve it

To make sure it was seated properly I had to take the rear seats out completely so that I could see it without hanging upside down in the boot. To be fair there is no room around it even then but it at least allows a different angle to double double check it is seated properly all the way round. I am very proud of myself for this little step :patself:

Whilst the seats were out, I got to thinking how nice it would look without the seats (they were bliking heavy btw) and instead a nice sheet of carbon acting as a rear bulkhead 8)

Now... that is on the list for next year

I should be able to fit the carbon and still allow the rear seat back to be fitted back in so that the seats can be taken out for track days, ring trips etc and the rest of the time be a shopping car
