Harness mounting points on Subaru Impreza (Newage)

I ordered a set of 3" harnesses from the bigpower shop and I have recieved an email from them regarding the mounting points on the Impreza.

He belives that the mounting points are not directly behind the seat so the harness can be mounted in a straight line.

Has anyone fitted a harness to an Impreza if so did you have to modify the mounting point?

Rob - I would agree with the email that you got. The mounting points use the original seat belt mount points (unless you want to drill and strengthen new points) and as such the harnesses would be slightly ofset.

I went with the 3/4 point set up because of this:

I saw this type of harness I really wanted to go for a four point set up. :?

Think I will have to have a look behind the seat to see what I can do.

May get my dad to weld in some mounting points for me I have seen them somewhere where the eyelet screws into a plate could get two of these welded in. :?:

They dont even have to be welded in.

Drill one big hole for the eyelet, drill a small hole for the support screw and you're done. I spoke to the guy on the TRS stand at the Autosport show who recons it is just as good as welding them in.

Had a proper look at the car last night and I have some isofix points between the seat.

The inner bolt holes from these are going to be in the right place for the harness.

sounds like a plan Rob

So long as the seat is central to the two mounting points you should be home and dry :)

I have been looking at the harnesses in the shop, its seems the ones you have Duncan are only available in 2" width, and I thought you had 3" ones :?

I was thinking of doing the same as you, looks easy if you want people in the rear seats sometimes.

If mine spent more time on track - then I think 3 inch harnesses would be the best option for me.... probably will got that route when/if change the seats to a fixed back seat.

Duncan

If you do the time attack will you need an FIA approved harness?
