v power is the best stuff - without doubt and I am sure no-ine would dispute that.

Mine was mapped on Tesco 99 the first time btu V power second time, not a vast amount of difference in the fuels or the amount of advance that could be run but with v power it will accept further octane booster to boost the octane. The tesco 99 has already been boosted so wont take much more.

This, I believe, is because v power is made from a better base fuel.

i agree with everything dunc said :)
tesco petrol is biofuel, distilled from grain (or something).

speaking personally, my car misfires like hell when run on anything other than v-power. i couldnt accellerate through the midrange, even at 1bar, on the tesco 99ron fuel

mine runs ok on it because my base mapping was done for it - it runs better on v power though.

BP ultimate makes it throw a wobbly though and anything else is just get me home stuff off boost

When I first got my Impreza I ran it on BP Ultimate and it didn't seem to run quite right even after an ECU reset, then I swithed to V-Power and it ran really smoothly so not looked back.

Not tried Tesco Value-Power and don't think that I will.

Mine ran on Tesco's but is better on V-power. I did find optimax a bit hit and miss though. As my car is decatted I add two bottle of octane booster to each tank (if you have a cat you can only add one).

Matter of interest - does V-power go off as much as optimax did

I run my car on Vpower with out booster with no problems at all. The only time octane booster gets chucked in as a precautionary measure against detonation. This is on specific occasions like quarter miles or trackdays, and probably only a placebo in as much as it probably only makes me feel better about caning the car.
Personally I wouldn't use anything else if there was a choice.

V Power should be good enough for most occasions. As Stu say octane booster helps out on special occasions.

There was a test done between the various petrols last year but not with the new V Power. This would definitely put it clearly top of the tree now i suspect.

I just wish I didnt have to drive for 30 minutes to get to the nearest shell station :(

How come you guys all run octane booster on the road. seems a bit of a waste of time ( keeping in mind that you will be most prone to knock in gears 3rd and above approaching peak tq )

I was just wondering how often you guy top out 3rd and 4th gears on the road :?:

I read a interesting artical on octane boosters and all there test subjects were found to do sweet FA.
