Is there anyone I can ask about the different systems and start a good thread on here about all the different parts on the Skyline GTR?
I have had a real ggod look around mine today and beleive I know how a few things work but it goes against a lot of things said by people on GTROC etc.
Can anyone step forward!!?
So are there any Skyline GTR technical experts? HICAS?
Like what exactly? i doubt the GTR is that special it has its own unique systems so is most likely similar to any other car. Do you mean stuff like HICAS etc?
Might be an idea if you stick up your theories and ideas first and others can expand on them and agree/disagree :thumb:

Yeah it does Stu!!
My theorys go as follows;
There has been a lot of discussion as to what exactly the reservoir in the boot is for, I beleive it is for the ATTESA four wheel drive system but others beleive it is for the HICAS system.
I have had a good look around my HICAS unit on my GTR and i beleive it is completely electrical and i beleive it is controlled by the HICAS ECU next to the battery in the boot again, dont ask me how it works as i think it is just a box of black magic!! There is no hydraulics in the whole of the system.
I think that the reservoir is used as follows;
When you accelerate hard in the GTR there are multiple sensors in the car which detect that the car needs to start using its front wheels so the ECU tells the electrical pump in the offside rear wheel arch to power up, this then draws fluid from the reservoir in the boot and puts it along a pipe under pressure which joins to the rear of the transfer box, i then get a bit stuck as to what happens here but i think that it activates a push rod of some description which pushes the multi plate clutch mechanism in the transfer box and allows the plates to come together which in turn powers the front propshaft and wheels.
Please add on to this and tell me I am wrong or right!!
If only i could find a comprehensive workshop manual i would read it from cover to cover!!
