Tyre pressure
Tyre pressure
Does anyone know the correct tyre pressure for the 19" leggs on my evo, sounds stupid but i was going to check the tyres before snetterton but don't know what they need to be :?
I would say that the make and model of tyre will give more info about tyre pressure than the wheel type Scott. I normally run about 30-32psi to start with and then measure again if I remember after a few laps. Tyre pressures is a bit of a minefield and I doubt you'll find a conclusive answer from this or any forum. Tyre pressures increase with heat so you can expect to gain about 5psi after a few spirited laps. You may be able to do 5 laps, check the pressures and then do another 5 laps within a 25 minute session. I should have a pressure guage with me on Saturday and can help if I'm around :thumb:

If Buff's running 19" tyres there won't be a lot of sidewall at all! Valid point though. Andycaca has tried and tested both variants and mentioned the side wall issue to me. To be honest Scott, one 25 minute session won't have too great a bearing on the performance unless they are way out before you start. It only seems to be more critical (at our standard of driving) if you are running in multiple sessions without checking in between.

I would say on 19's 30psi is a tad low, as standard I am sure an Evo's pressures should be 32-34ish. And if you run them too low seeing as you have very small sidewalls then you risk damaging your rim, this is what happened to JimmyWRX on the sprint.
When I was at the Ring I was putting my F1's at 36psi all round.

i would personally go a tad higher as you will no doubt be leaning on your tyres pretty hard thro the bends, its easier to come in after 5 laps, check them, and then decrease the pressure than it is to pump them up!
If I were you, I would start at 36psi, thensee how that goes, if you find they are too hard and the car is scrubbing alot then let them down slighty
