The commander sits in its holder in the glove box and I dont go near it for fear of screwing the map up etc. Guess im gonna have to get a bit braver
I'm not sue what you're referring to by the breather? Std breathing system is for emissions and returns crank and cam breathers back t the inlet manifold which is not good. What do you have if not standard?

You won't screw up the map if you don't tell it to. I can't remember exactly but someone with an Apexi will tell you. Maybe start another thread for help. It really is very easy and you're daft not to use a very useful tool.

On the over thinking side of things your right (tommy remember it is shell's car though and if i bend it I think I'll be sleeping in the greenhouse for a while  )

Ive near enough thrown the replacement ecu idea out of the window which does allow me to get a spare set of alloys and move the airfilter etc instead. Thisd means I can do a few extra events this year (one of which means I can go to elvington on sunday now  )

I'm new to all this so please bear with me guys.

cheers guys. going to get the guages sorted as it makes sense to see what the car is doing and hold off on the rest.

Dunc am i right in that theres a direct correlation with oil pressure drop and increase in temp? Im assuming though that if loads of the scoob owners run at higher oil temps then I should be alright.

Im so glad I asked for everyones help before shelling out unecessarly and more importantly gives me a bit more confidence to have longer stints out on track in future.

Mike on the simtek I was going to get simon to do the mapping but as ive now been convinced its not necessary, i'll hold off for now.

On the sump side of things I am now on the hunt for a spare set of wheels that'll have r888's put on them after ive worn the tyres on them down.

Im going to look at putting some money aside for a datalogic unit and a netbook to go with it( we were going to get one anyhow).

rest of the money will stay in the bank for a rainy day.

Once again thanks guys for bearing with me etc.

So the only thing left is which manufacturer of gauges to get.

Will be looking at cage at some point but not just yet. Can I realisticaly keep my interior with a cage or do I need to swap the seats if im going to cage the car?

Dont get me wrong - lower oil temp is better, but I wouldnt be pulling in if it was 105C myself.

When it gets to 120C I would.

I had to ditch the seats when i caged mine.
I started by only planning the driver seat, but i found my passengers heads were a very short distance from the cage and that was too big a risk for me.
If you had a half cage in the back, then you would be able to keep the seats.

Gauges - group buy on prosports at moment on sn. I've had 2 sets of these, in different cars, they've been fine and look tidy.

See you've been cruising the group buys section already. I'd give the BC coilovers a miss if it's also a daily driver. Worth spending a more IMO or sticking with what you've got (I've just switched back from their inverted ones to standard pattern struts). Decent struts cost quite a bit more than the cheapest BCs - 2x as much for KWv3 and 3x as much for exe-tc fast road.

Andy yeah id already considered swapping the koni's and although id like kw's there a bit out of my range. The car whilst it is a daily driver doesnt do vast amounts of miles and the last evo we had had teins on it so I know the hard ride trade off.

Its a mute point anyhow as the gb has finished. Theres some racetech dials on the for sale section but dont know if there worth getting in terms of accuracy etc.

You don't need accuracy with guages. You need consistency. :)
