stockcar wrote:why did it appear to lose so much cam,ber from the first sheet to the second??

the 'final' settings on the first sheet look somewhere near what i would expect although you can generally get them better matched, but the 2nd set are shocking
hass the right rear had a knock to lose its camber??
The first set are standard with lowered springs, the second set are with suspension mods fitted.

Appointment at 10:30 today to have it all finally sorted! Hopefully!

Will let you all know results later.

What a difference. :-D Its like i drove a different car home.

Got there on time and was offered a cup of coffee straight away. The technician came and saw me shortly after to say they were a little backed up and a Merc was holding them up. They offered to take me where i wanted, i was going to wait for it. Got taken home and watched the golf for a few hours. :) Recieved a phonecall saying my car was ready and they were on their way to pick me up. The technician (Ian) explained exactly what he had done and what all the numbers and settings meant. He explained that he had set the rear to Prodrive settings and had compromised the front settings in favour of tyre wear. He said take it away and see how i got on if i didnt like it he would change the settings FOC! :) and he would ring me in a few days to see how i was getting on. It was a very pleasurable experience today with excellent customer service and a transformed car. I will drive the car around a bit and see how i get on with it and i will post the results as soon as i can to see what you guys think.

Hi, just got the new print outs scanned in.
The first one is the inital reading the second is after adjustment. The settings are Prodrive on the rear and Prodrive on the front with a bit of tyre wear compromise. The car feels so much better but still has a little more to give. Are the Prodrive settings bad for tyre wear? Let me know your comments.
Thanks JM

Those settings wont wear your tyres much at all.

They seem to have evened them off well but still low on Negative Camber at the front for some reason - were they not able to get it more than that? 1-1 1/2 Degree at the front would have been nice and help reduce understeer even more.

He was able to do more but he thought it would improve the handling but not wear tyres too quickly.

So a bit more camber at the front then?

1 negative at the front would help remove/reduce understeer as you cant get much more than 3.5 degree caster.

It doesnt wear the tyres too much and will actually help save them when your car is on track (I presume it will be)

Ian from Autotest just rang me to see how i was getting on with the car, had a chat about the settings and what you guys have said and it is back in on Wednesday to stick some more camber on the front.

Has anyone got the prodrive settings so i can make a comparison on the figures i have?

Thanks

Not for a classic I dont.

Mine (on a hawkeye) are:

Front:
Camber: -2.5 Deg
Caster: 5.5 Deg
Toe: marginal Toe Out

Rear:
Camber: -1 Deg
Toe: marginal Toe Out

JM - I've used 1.5deg camber all-round on my classic for the last year, with a bit more dialled in for trackdays on adjustable topmounts. Tyres are down to 3mm now but an inch on the front inside shoulders is bald. So, slightly uneven, with mostly road-use on that particular set of wheels.

I'd go for 1deg camber if the car is going to do road work predominantly, or 1.5+ for track work.

Does anyone know the Prodrive or GpN (fast road) geometry settings?
