When you do this you will unlock hidden power in the engine.

You could un leash lots of power on a big spec car.

but i presume this would run the risk of melting pistons?

Only if your WI was interupted. The water is more effictive and enables you to lean out.

eg. I have to run 11.1 afr at 16 psi and that is on the toasty side
With water i can run back to 12.3 afr. I have had it as lean a 13.5 with water alone. the egts were up to 800 deg c at 8000 rpm. So all in all safe

Good thread this, I have learnt a lot.

Also learnt that I just slapped in my water injection and switch it on from time to time to lower intake temps. Didnt realise I could get a lot more out of it.

Yes Scott I will be trying the methanol/water soon bud lol

Please don not add methanol to your fuel tank tho....

It will destroy the pump and rot the rubber lines and o rings on the injectors. It will eat anything alu that it is in contact with for a prolonged time.

Very important point this. There is a world of difference between using methanol in a WI kit and adding menthanol to the fuel...
