Well not quite the cut type - but I swear the best tyre i've used are the Potenza RE02's, but, they're not available in the UK. I've just somehow ended up with them by pure fluke twice in a row now.

They don't feel like they go off, the grip is consistent between laps - but saying that I don't think I've ever stayed out for more then 10 mins between cool down times.

At the moment I am running Bridgestone Potenza's and they are great, have had them on one session on a trackday and they did not go off after 15mins hard use.

I could go for these again but like i said im looking for something a bit more focused for dry weather track use.

Maybe I will have to check out these A048's if you beleive the R888's will be to soft. I do want something that will last on the track and not start to go off quickly.

Tyres are so hard to choose and its an expensive choice!! :?

One thing to consider though Ian, if you have better corner gripping - you may need to fit either an Acusump or have your sump extended, as you will starve your car and kill it with the high G cornering that improved grip will give you.

(Ian - i've split out this thread - This is about tyres still ... :))

Ian,

I had A048's on when I went round snetterton and after a lap or 2 they were awesome, held up very well. But they are quite soft though, at the end of the day there was a fair bit of smudged rubber around but that might be something to do with driving style??

I will only use them on track though because I got caught in the rain with them on, lets just say it was 'interesting' :-D

Not sure what size's they make though, mine are 245/40/17(I think) so i put them on my standard rims.

Thanks for the advice Robin.

These may be the tyres for me then, do they look like cut slicks?

As i said, my car never see's rain, only after it has been washed like Stu says!

Once they were warm it was a different car, you'll love em.

Good luck with them. :)

No probs.

Im not entierly sure but I think it means the best size wheel. So they recommend a wheel size of 7.5 - 9" but 8" would be the best.

Im sure someone else will read this and post the answer too.
