If money is no object then I must say I liked the EVC very much. The LCD unit is the "selector"" and the box with the 3 circular buttons/knobs is the "controller" part. Basically you take the actuator rating as zero, and then add boost using the "volume" knobs on the controller (left hand button is on/off, middle knob is preset1 right hand one is preset2). This can then be tucked away from prying fingers and you have the LCD somewhere you can get at - or on display if you want a flashy gizmo !! - and you simply select on/off/hi boost/low boost and thats it !!!
I would also let you know that the Profec B Spec2 allows a slight overboost in the low range to aid turbo spool up. This is probably only giving a 2-300rpm difference but it was enough to convince me that it was the way to go with the Orange, as drifting is more difficult the more lag you have.

Heard good things about the Turbosmart, fitted one for a friend, he said its nice and linear.
I use a Greddy Profec E-01, expensive but doubles as the E-Manage programmer and has some spare inputs for logging to an SD card.

well i know loads of people are going to reccomend an electronic one...but
I like my manual boost controllers.
I run a Hallmans boost controller. They feature a ball and spring type boost controller. Utilizing a lightweight ceramic ball for quicker resoponse and faster spool up. These boost controllers for spooling up turbos just as quick if not quicker than many electronic boost controllers. after my install on mine my car spooled up 400 RPM faster over the standard boost solenoid. currently I am hitting 1.2 bar @ 3500 RPM on an unported turbo and standard 2L engine with a 40lb/min turbo. It may actually spool up faster once I check for boost leaks (which I need to do shortly).
Just my thoughts.

Used to use these all the time, if you are just wanting a few more pounds of boost and don't need the ease of adjustment of an electronic device I would thoroughly recommend them :thumb: and for aroundboxy wrote:never thought of a purely mechanical boost controller, so you have some info of where to aquire them? How easy are they to fit?
