Tyres, tyres, tyres....it's a bloody minefield!!

Some interesting views on this thread so far, I presume RWD and AWD would differ somewhat with regards to ideal tyre widths etc?

Any more updates from this year?

after much to'ing and frow'ing and weighing up all pro's and con's I'm now adament that I will be running with 17's next year rather than 18's.
To that end I'm looking at 888's for dry (235 front and 255 rear) and will be testing Goodyear Eagle F1 (GS-D3) for wets in January.

If there's a minor difference in offset and rim width between the wet and dry wheel sets, will this have a noticable difference and require minor adjustment of arms for each set (for camber etc)?

A. No question....Ray Mears....you could make a shit load more stew out of that tubby little fecker [/img]

Have been running yoko AD08's this year on an mr2 turbo and been impressed with grip wet and dry and how well they've last. Reasonably priced as well.

Brother now runs them on his 350 and also loves them.

Yeah maybe once you're driving at nine tenths.

Buy something like this

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tune-Win-Carrol ... 872&sr=8-1

and prepare to be amazed :D

I was leant this or something similar by one of the lads I knew at Lotus and, although it was complicated for someone like me, it was brilliant.

The only thing I would further offer as advice is to take it all with a hefty dollop of salt. I know loads of lads who have got proper confused about what to expect from mods that they've changed and how it's actually affected the car. I also know a few that have a new, very technical excuse for being slower than they were before they started fucking around with shit they didn't understand  :cheers2:

They are good for deciphering (and ultimately justifying my ignoring) the waffle that some self proclaimed subject matter experts come out with

I'd be happy just to have a car that can complete a 15-20 minute track session let alone go and stop where and when I want it to....

+1 :) seen a few people do it, and although I think the BGW made a difference on the zed I'm swerving aero mods on the gtr, certainly until I think it's reliable and I'm maxing it out at it's current spec, both of which I'm a long way from....

Just get in it and drive it

Well I've just sorted a deal with john B so should have some trackable wheels and 888's to play with after Christmas

Fun is long overdue
