Good advice, buying a car already done is the most sense economically as they never cost what they have swallowed, trust me!

Have a look in the back of Motoring News for good affordable rally cars.

If you go with the omp cage that i fitted to both my imprezas they go through the dash so it has to come out.

you can just cut the corner out where the air vents are and you have to butcher the big dash bar because the omp cage rest against it.

Gerry had the safety devices one alot easyer to fit.

Phil, sounds like sprintings a good one for that budget, come join the fun! Have a look in the sprinting section for more info on costs and equipment required.

And as Mike says, Safety Devices is a better cage than the OMP.

Baffled sump good idea as Logan says. I may have a line on affordable ones via a local fabricator friend of a friend, as I need one too. Oil pressure warning is tricky, cos it can be just a brief half a bar drop but it drops much more than that when down to idle. Can only see it reliably if you're logging or have passenger looking continuously at gauge. Gauge damping can hide the brief drop (Prosports are ok, and cheap).

Also, re-route breathers to catch can. At higher boost especially, the standard breathers can dump oil into the inlet, not good.

Fuel surge - run above 3/4 tankful or spend a few 100 on a swirlpot setup...

Det - get Gerry to sell you a detalarm with remote LEDs. Are you coming along to Snett on Weds pm (autotest evening)? I'll be along in my STi6.

What mods does your STi have already?

Phil - we have similar spec, although I've just switched to an MD321H turbo. I'll bring it along on Weds. Blue version 6, STi RA Limited.
